Payment terms and due dates on an invoice

A due date turns "pay me when you can" into a date you can follow up on. Pick one, print it, and act when it passes.

Choosing the term

For residential clients, short terms (due on receipt, 7 or 14 days) are common; longer terms are usual with businesses that run payment cycles. Kobrado lets you set a default term and change it per invoice.

Before it is overdue

A reminder a few days before the due date is normal and polite. Kobrado sends you a weekly summary of what is still unpaid so you can follow up.

When it is overdue

Your list should show overdue invoices at a glance. Follow up with the invoice attached and the ways to pay printed on it.

Questions

Can I set a different term for one client?

Yes. The default applies to new invoices; change it on any invoice before sending.

Should I charge late fees?

That is your decision and may be regulated where you work. If you do, write it on the estimate and the invoice before the job.

Kobrado does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. You set your own tax rates.
